Intervention 1: In the first step the capacity of the PHC network was improved in terms of the knowledge and skills of the staff, referral system in PHC network, registration system for suicide behaviors and depressed cases. In the second step, active screening to identify the depressed cases was carried out, drug treatment by general practioners and treatment followed up by Behvarzes in rural areas and holding 5-consulting session for the depressed and attempted cases in urban areas was carried out. Intervention 2: Control group was Koohdasht, 100 km away from Khorram Abad with similar socio-cultural features. In the control city, only the first step was performed in order to improve the capacity of its PHC network in both urban and rural areas.
